Attached Files Research Paper: Proposal Rubric (33 KB) After your topic is approved, turn your attention to the Research Paper Proposal. It should contain the following components:
The cover page – Include your name, class name, instructor name, and date according to the Turabian manual.
A working thesis statement – State the tentative, proposed thesis of the Research Paper in one sentence.
The need for the study – Explain why this research is important. Include the reason(s) why the topic may warrant the study, e.g. the significance and/or implication of the topic in relation to history, contemporary situation, or academic controversy.
The procedure of the study – Include the organization of the paper. Detail any subtopics in your paper body.
A working bibliography – A list of 12 working scholarly sources for your paper. Avoid general dictionaries, commentaries, and/or essays.
The proposal should be 1 – 2 pages in length, double-spaced (not counting the cover page and bibliography). The Research Paper Proposal is due by the end of Module/Week 4.

Attached Files Research Paper: Submission Rubric (35 KB) Write the Research Paper using the Topic and Proposal you submitted. Your paper must have a thesis statement, which is an attempt to prove a point (this is not a survey of material). Your paper must be thoroughly documented and not contain your opinion, except in the Conclusion section.
Your Research Paper must include 8 sections:
Title Page
Thesis Statement
Table of Contents
Introduction
Body
Conclusion
Footnotes (no in-text citations or endnotes)
Bibliography (including at least 12 sources, not counting the Bible or the course textbooks)
The paper must be 12 – 15 pages in length, encompassing all 8 sections above, and written in proper form (see the Turabian manual). Text should be double-spaced and written in 12 pt. Times New Roman font. Use a recent version of Microsoft Word in which to write your paper. Misspellings, grammatical errors, poor syntax, excessive use of the first person, or failure to comply with all structural/content criteria will count against your grade.
