Read Mary Rowlandson’s account of her captivity (See Philbrick’s bibliography) in the text, via Google, and in the document called “A Fate Worse Than Death” in the Course Documents folder titled “Those Wacky Puritan Poets.” Then,Google _the Bay Psalm Book_. Write a page (250 words) on the content of Mrs. Rowlandson’s story and how it compares with a very specific genre of literature that many people read today. Also, why is the _Bay Psalm Book_ important? What value did/does it have artistically?
Read the poems by Edward Taylor and Anne Bradstreet. Use the files inside the Course Documents folder titled “Those Wacky Puritan Poets.” Tell what each wrote about. Compare their styles and subjects. What is unusual about Bradstreet, given the era and Puritan beliefs?
