This assessment requires you to take a step back from the day-to-day practice of therapeutic interventions and consider how socio-cultural forces shape such practices. So rather than describing the details of professional practice, your focus is how such practices come about, or why things are the way they are. To do well, you will need to show you have thought about the different levels in Bronfenbrenner?s model and how they interrelate. You will also need to use key concepts from the course to help explain the factors that shape professional practice. Useful concepts might include, but are not limited to: hegemony; ableism/disableism; normalising difference; ideologies; power; agency; ethics.
