I have numbered the 1-2-3-4-5 statements. Can you please write at least with 100 words or over relevant context in these Posts. If you find any research with REFERNCE it will be fine but please write the citation and THE WHOLE REFERENCE under the post from where it was taken ?(but please make sure to write in your own words) that will be great! I really appreciate it. These are discussion questions and need to be answer accordingly, perhaps you do not need to answer each line just follow important context form the post. THANKS!!!
(1)There are several tools that I use while searching CINAHL for articles. One tool is the Boolean search and utilizing the select field option. Sometimes I want to narrow a search to the abstract even the title but most often use the all text field. I have often used Author as it may happen one author has written several articles on one topic. This search engine will also give suggestions in a drop down box that show up while entering the search term that can be helpful. The disadvantage to this search is that your chosen phrase needs to be in the article. Often there are several words or phrases that could be used to search an article and finding the ones that match what you are searching for can be difficult. To help narrow down the results I will edit the results to a time frame within the last 5 years, exclude articles not written in English, choose peer written articles, and also choose the age group the
article is focused on. Editing can help refine the articles left to choose from but it may not exclude non research based articles.
(2)The second technique is grouping terms together using parentheses. The advantages of this includes: helps insure that the exact word you are looking for or find the most relevant to your research gets searched first (CINAHL, 2012). The disadvantages are: if you do not understand how to utilize this type of searching method then you are going to limit your articles. It is a personal decision to decide which search engine works better for you.
(3) The CINAHL Subject Headings authority file is a controlled vocabulary thesaurus that assists in more effectively searching the CINAHL database. There are more than 10,600 main subject headings as well as thousands of cross-references that assist in finding the most appropriate subject heading. CINAHL uses the National Library of Medicine’s Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) as the standard vocabulary for disease, drug, anatomical, and physiological concepts. Each reference in the database has a set of subject terms, major and minor descriptors, which describe the primary and secondary focus of the document. The Thesaurus is arranged in a hierarchy that permits searching various levels of detail from the most general level to more specific levels, to find the most precise concept. You can explode terms in the thesaurus to include narrower terms in the hierarchy. You can also select Major Concept to ensure that you retrieve only material where the subject is a primary focus of the article.
