-You will compare and contrast two works from two different movements/groups we have studied so far in this course (through Week 7). These are Realism, Manet and Impressionism, Post-Impressionism (including Symbolism), Die Brücke, Blue Rider, the Fauves, Cubism, Futurism, German Expressionism, Dada (Zurich, Berlin, Hannover), Soviet Constructivism, and the Bauhaus. Just don’t choose the same movement on which you wrote your first paper.(I DID MANET’S OLYMPIA) Include visual analysis and historical information. Try to find interesting and significant points of comparison/contrast.
– You can choose your works from these sources: the ARTIC museum, the ARTIC website (if the work is not on display – you can search for works related to these movements on their site), our textbook or other course readings, and works shown in lecture and available in Canvas PowerPoints.(I WILL ATTACH THE FILES)
– All papers are required to make use of at least one course text. Since this paper is longer than the first, you should try to do so more extensively and to back up your ideas with relevant information and evidence.
– Cite all sources in the text with author last name (or website name) and page number in parentheses – including course texts, museum labels, information from museum websites, etc. – and include a complete source list at the end with complete publication information.
