This week focuses on learning from an individual perspective and how an individual’s learning experience interacts within the organisational learning framework. Starting with yourself, you can begin to see the relationship between the individual learner and his or her own learning process within an organisation.
PART 1:
To prepare for the first discussion, review the resources developing Kolb’s experiential learning theory, cognitivism, and the contrasting social constructivist theory. In addition, think again about the notion of the learning organisation in relation to your own working context.
With these thoughts in mind, in a 500- to 750-word response, post your answers to the following to the Discussion Board:
• What forms of learning have you experienced in your working life? What learning sources do you consult when you need to know about something? Do you think of this as a form of learning?
Remember to cite and reference examples from the readings and journal articles for this week, add at least three of your own research – in sum 7 expected. Harvard Style.
PART 2:
To prepare for the second discussion, read the article by Ladkin et al. (2009). Reflect on your learning experience so far specifically as an online learner.
In a 500- to 750-word reflection, post your thoughts on the following to the Discussion Board:
• On the basis of the learning styles referred to in Reynolds (1997), discuss whether ‘learning in cyberspace’ is a more individual process than ‘traditional’ learning in a lecture theatre or classroom. Make reference to the reading by Donna Ladkin and her colleagues.
