‘Behavioural Safety’ can be used to improve the management of health and safety on construction projects. Discuss this statement , including an evaluation of different approaches to behavioural safety.
Your answer should describe what behavioural safety is. You should also give examples of different approaches, discussing their relative strengths and weeknesses, as well as an evaluation of how beneficial they are to the management of health and safety on construction projects .
Guidance:
Your report may be structured in four sections: introduction explaining the concept of ‘Behavioural Safety’, a section reviewing guidance and research on the subject (e.g. practical guidance, trade jouornals/magazines and academic journals), a section comparing different approaches, and a final conclusions section stating which characteristics or methods are best suited to construction projects (using text from your previous sections as evidence). Submissions should quote up-to-date references (Harvard style), be of good quality and show evidence of further research. Total content should be around 2000 words (±10%). Weighting of the sections for marking purposes will be as follows: Section 1: 5%; Section 2: 20%; Section 3: 40%; Section 4: 30%. The remaining 5% is for structure, grammar and references.
