FLOW FIELD OF AN IMPELLER

Assessment Task:
Write a report in no more than 2000-3000 words covering the following:

Impellers and fans are used in many engineering applications. The flow field is often affected by the inlet conditions upstream of the rotating blades. In this course work, it is required to investigate the flow field of the impeller at changing hub design.

It is required to investigate several configuration of hub with different inlet length of shaft ahead of the rotating blades.

The figure below shows the rotating impeller that may be used in this course work.
Students are free also to choose their own design.

Parametric study should be conducted as to the effect of the r.p.m variations and the different shaft length.

The r.p.m could have very wide range between 300 to 4000 r.p.m. depending upon the application.
