Staff motivation-what HR practices management consultancy firms should embrace in order to improve staff motivation and decrease their dissatisfaction?

You need to write a dissertation by adding additional 15000 words to the dissertation proposal using the format listed below.

Title Page
This should have your dissertation title, your name, your student number, title of degree and the date.

Acknowledgements
It is usual but not compulsory to thank those who have been of particular help to you in completing the dissertation.

Abstract
This is a short section (maximum one page), which concisely summarizes the whole of the dissertation; the main aim of the research, the findings of the Literature Review, the research methodology adopted, the findings of your primary research and the conclusions made. It should be written in the past tense. Up to 1 page

Contents Page
This should be written on a separate page and should show chapter/section headings and page numbers. It should include all appendices and be followed by separate lists of tables and figures if appropriate.

Introduction
Your introduction should contain your topic clearly stated and defined, the reason why it is of interest to you, a clear overall purpose and definitions of all special and general terms. This chapter should also end with a clear research question or questions, a list of objectives and a hypothesis or hypotheses if needed. 4 pages
Research proposal question
The research will thereby look to address the following two questions:
Firstly, what HR practices management consultancy firms should embrace in order to motivate their staff while at the same time improving staff satisfaction and retention?
Secondly, what mechanisms should HR departments use to solve issues relating to employee dissatisfaction so that the different issues get solved? (I.e. Unclear reporting, stress, tensions between employees)
Research objectives
• To recognize what really affects the motivation and its effect on employee’s performance and job satisfaction.
• To determine the best HR activities that could improve employees motivation
• To determine the manner in which HR needs to deal with challenges causing employee dissatisfaction.
• To define the best practices in the HR that can be applied by the large management consultancy companies to improve their staff morale and motivation.
• To find out the impact improved staff motivation will have on the long term human resource needs. (I.e. Cost effectiveness through lowered staff retention?)
Hypothesis objectives
H1: To determine how motivation affect employees in the management consultancy firms while evaluating the ways to improve staff satisfaction and retention.
H2: To determine the different steps and strategies which need to be adopted in order to improve staff motivation and deal with issues arising from employees dissatisfaction.

Literature Review
This chapter should demonstrate that you have conducted a thorough and critical investigation of relevant sources (books, journals, google scholar), outlining, comparing and discussing key ideas, explanations, concepts, models and theories. You should present these ideas in a systematic, well-structured and logical sequence. You will be expected to use prominent and up-to-date books and academic journals. This chapter should end with a statement of the gap in current knowledge which your research aims to fill. Review of Literature: 14 pages
What’s been written- about your topic?
Motivational theories and models:
1. Taylor
2. Abraham Maslow
3. Alderfer ERG Theory
4. Herzberg (2 factor Theory)
5. Mc Gregor
6. Mcclellan Acquired needs theory
7. Cognitive Evaluation Theory
8. Equity Theory
9. Reinforcement theory
10. Vroom Expectancy Theory

Methodology
This chapter describes and assesses the approach you have taken to the data collection process (research philosophy, research strategy, method(s), validity etc.) For each research question or hypothesis and objectives you should have a method for achieving it, making sure that you offer clear rationales for the decisions that you have made. You should explicitly describe your chosen method(s) and any sampling techniques used. It is also important to give a brief assessment of other potential relevant data collection methods and why you discounted them. Do not describe all data collection methods. There should be a critique of the success, or otherwise, of your method(s). Explain the appropriateness of the data analysis techniques that you have selected. You must also discuss validity, reliability and generalizability. Research Methodology: 8 pages
You need to provide specifics are needed on your research methodology-you can use some information from Research proposal. You need to prepare 2 surveys. What are the specifics of your surveys/questionnaires? What are the metrics you will use to evaluate the results?
The process of identifying the participants for this surveys was based on their understanding and interaction with the issue at hand and made the sampling method purposive sampling (Krathwohl, 1998).
First survey will be for staff in management consultancy companies and my second survey will be for HR managers.
The first survey will intend to analyze:
Why did employees choose to work for their current employer?
What really motivates them? (I will use scale)
What are the issues causing the dissatisfaction with their current job?
The second survey will be designed for HR managers and will aim to confirm what the main issues are relating to staff motivation as well as what effect they have on their overall performance and satisfaction. The subset of Consultancy Companies was chosen to narrow the sample participants to HR leaders who may have had similar experiences with staff motivation.
In addition, you need to evaluate what limitations do phone interviews pose and how will you get around this?
It was extremely difficult for me to arrange face-to-face meetings due to costs involved in traveling to different cities in United Kingdom. I think it would be important to note in the limitations of your actual thesis that managers were reluctant to do longer face to face interviews but seemed more responsive to a 15 minute phone call.
All surveys/questionnaires need to be taken in United Kingdom.

Findings / Results
In this chapter the data generated should be reported as completely and neutrally as is possible such that the reader can assess it easily. This is where you will include such tables and graphs that will illustrate your findings. This chapter will also contain verbatim quotes from interviewees, or sections of narrative account that illustrate periods of unstructured observation. The purpose of this chapter is to present the facts. It is not appropriate in this chapter to begin to offer opinions on the facts.

Analysis / Discussion of Findings
You should present your analysis clearly and logically and it should be relevant to your research aim, research question(s), hypothesis (es) and objectives. Make sure that you relate the findings of your primary research to your Literature Review. You can do this by comparison: discussing similarities and particularly differences. If you think your findings have confirmed some literature findings, say so and say why. If you think your findings are at variance with the literature, say so and say why. Results and Analysis of Results: 12 pages Use research by Alan Loy McGinnis:’Bringing the best in people: How to enjoy helping others excel’ and apply it to the consultancy environment.

Conclusions/ Recommendations
State the main conclusions of your dissertation. State explicitly how and to what extent you have met your aims and objectives / answered your research question(s) / proved your hypothesis (es) whichever is appropriate. Your conclusions should follow logically from your findings and not contain any new material. Recommendations can be made if appropriate. Conclusions and Recommendations: 4 pages

Appendices, illustrations etc
Any necessary information should be here, for example, sampled questionnaires, topic guides, etc. Each appendix should be lettered (A, B, C etc.) and should consist of detailed information that is interesting but not essential to the main thrust of your findings section.
