America’s Pacific: Asian American History

The paper to answer the following questions #1The United States engaged in a series of wars in Asia from 1941 to 1975. Choosing one of these wars (the
war against Japan during World War II, the Korean War, or the Vietnam War) explain how America’s
military involvement produced new migration patterns and flows and shaped the experience of Asian
immigrants and Asian Americans in the United States.
#2 2) Read and interpret Samuel Gomper’s “Racializes Chinese American Labor” and William Peterson’s article
on Japanese Americans as success stories. In doing so, explain how ideas about Asian Americans as a
“Yellow Peril” and “Model Minority” were constructed historically. How did the two ideas/images differ?

and Naturalization has invited you to provide a historical perspective on contemporary immigration reform.
