B. Wrote your respond to Yana’s post.
“The fact I would like to share from the Chronic Negative Social Problems section of the textbook appears on page 95 and is as follows: “A variety of potential stressors arise for someone who becomes unemployed. The challenge of meeting basic economic needs for survival, difficulty finding future work, loss of health and medical benefits, decline in lifestyle, and loss of self-esteem are just a few”.
The 2009 New York Times article entitled “Poll Reveals Depth and Trauma of Joblessness in U.S., written by Michael Luo and Megan Thee-Brenan, presents real-life examples of stressors exactly like and similar to those referred to in the textbook (link: https://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/15/us/15poll.html?_r=0). Additional stressors presented in the article are conflicts with family and friends, a sleep disorder and physical displacement from one’s home. I was touched by all of the real-life examples, but I was heartbroken to read about the couple “saving quarters for diapers” and the woman who couldn’t get to a much needed therapy session because of a lack of transportation. One word comes to my mind…”unacceptable”.”
Your respond:
