> How might you/your professional colleagues use the learnings from this paper to become better professionals/to be better able to perform your role to benefit your organisation and further your career?
Part B (2000 words) Literature Review 30% (breakdown provided below)
Overall you are to answer the question: What does the literature tell you about your chosen topic? by addressing the questions below:
> Briefly, what are its origins (history) (5%)
(the three pre 2007 articles are likely to be used here, but newer literature may discuss the history)
> What have been the recent developments and from where have these come? (15%)
> Using very recent literature, and relating your predictions to personal experience, how are HR practices in relation to your topic expected to develop in the future?
> What direction are they expected to take and why? (5%)
> At the end of your paper you are to reflect on the relevance of your findings from the literature in relation to your current professional role (your recent role or desired future role if you are not currently working). Therefore, you are to relate theory to practice. (5%)
You are to critically review the literature, comparing and contrasting the views of the authors across the 10 articles (minimum) that you use.
Your literature review will be assessed on:
> the quality of your argument and the literature you have located and used and its relevance to your topic
> confident use of the theories and themes arising from the chosen literature (thus avoiding excessive re-hashing or re-stating of information)
> clarity of focus, organisation, writing and presentation, with the overall quality of expression, presentation, logical sequencing, sentence construction, use of headings to be of a quality that could be used in a business environment.
> accurate and adequate citation of references, using the Harvard system of referencing
> your ability to exhibit a depth of reflection on your own professional role and an analysis of the skills and knowledge you need to continue to develop in order to improve your capabilities as a manager.
