Coiled Tubing DrillingA new drilling technique involves using coiled tubing unit instead of conventional drill rig. Some advantages of Coiled Tubing Drilling are, requiring less effort to trip in and out of the well and providing a hydraulic seal around the coil (ability to drill underbalanced). In Coiled Tubing Drilling the drill bitrotates by a downhole MUD MOTOR (powered by the motion of drilling fluid pumped from surface), instead of using a rotary table or top drive at the surface. A coiled tubing unit with 10,000 feet length of 2 inches OD pipe, 0.134 inches wall thickness and QT1000 HSLAS (High Strength Low-Alloy Steel) material is drilling 4-1/8 inches hole with a positive displacement motor and a PDC Bit in depth of 7,200 ft. The wellbore has been secured by casing 5 inches ID, 13 Lb/ft specific weight and material property K-55 from surface to 5,500 ft. A model TPH-400 triplex single acting pump along with a C-15 CAT engine as a mechanical prime mover are used to pump the fluid through coiled tube. Pressure drop in Coiled tube is 10% more than Straight tube. Do a thorough research about coiled tubing drilling and write a 3page literature review.
