Essay title Introduction This should introduce you manifesto and outline what aspect you chose to explore more-in-depth. State the aims and intentions of your essay clearly. Say what examples you will specifically look at and state whether you will be using your own images from your practice to illustrate some of the points. Explain why these examples are relevant. Include the key ideas and contexts your essay relates to and state which authors have led the exploration, analysis etc. Explain why they are relevant and what ideas they cover. Give a brief overview of the structure of your essay Main Essay Make sure you have a clear and reasoned order to paragraphs. Makes sure you have supported your points by using other authors and examples to help you explain. You need to aim to use more than one author to discuss an aspect or point. Make sure you refer directly to the authors i.e. Dormer (1972) said that.. Do the same when you include an image or piece of work. Introduce it, say what it is and who by. Discuss the detail, idea or point by using referring to the image. This may mean using explanation or description. Sometimes you may wish to start a point off by discussing and describing an image or by stating what an author has said. Indirect citation (paraphrasing what an author has said) e.g. 1 Author ( yr) said that e.g.2 It explains how ..and (Author:Yr) Direct citation (exact words or quote) Author said that: x,vnzsfdnb dl kfmlkdfb kjsf;bhjedotfrh#[ode[onbjk#gtnkm;mn;flnmj;vx;vbmnv.,nm. (Author, Yr:pg) Conclusion Make sure you summarise all the main points and explain what they establish.
