Washington State should be preparing for a “40-Mile-Long Mudslide” from Mount Rainier. Kevin Scott, a scientist emeritus at the U.S. Geological Survey’s Cascade Volcano Observatory states, “With Rainier’s active hydrothermal system saturating the rock, the landslide would reach the base of the slope as a flowing mass of watery, muddy debris” (Popular Mechanics). What would this mean for our state?
Other disasters said to be headed for the United States include:
– 80-Foot-High Tsunami on the Atlantic Coast
– Magnitude 6.9 Earthquake in the Mississippi River Valley
– 195-MPH Hurricane in Florida
I honestly do not think that our nation is prepared for disasters at this level. Take Seattle for instance: the entire city shuts down over 6 inches of snow! What if we had a blizzard the size of the ones recently occurring on the east coast? According to an article from the History Channel, studies are showing that global warming is causing the frequency and/or severity of extreme weather to increase. I think that our nation needs to be better prepared for when (not if) these terrible disasters occur. What do you think?

2.You need to bring in information from a variety of sources to support your discussion for an excellent post, and the internet is NOT an excellent source of information. Material cited from Wikipedia will not be accepted. Repeat, the internet is NOT an excellent source of information and you will not receive an excellent grade if you rely solely on the internet.
