I have had my thesis sentence approved and my tentative paper plan proposed:
Marques’ story the Angel represents the Catholic church and how it has become irrelevant and ICarus represents the fall of Classicism, and how that has become irrelevant.
Thesis:
In the short story A "Very Old Man with Enormous Wings," by Gabriel Gatrcia Marques, and the poem "Landscape with the Fall of Icarus," by William Carlos Williams, the "Angel" and "Icarus" are both victims of selfishness that dominates the soul of human beings, resulting in their existence having little value.
Plan:
I plan to compare the similarities of the authors theme surrounding how the Angel represents the Catholic church and ICarus represents the fall of Classicism, both symbolically, and how these become irrelevant. And incorporating how the "Angel" and "Icarus" are both victims of selfishness that dominates the soul of human beings, resulting in their existence having little value.

You must use at least one criticism for each work of fiction.
Sources must be academic and credible sources.
Proper documentation of criticism is a must, as is proper MLA format for the research paper. Critical sources are what other writers have written about the work you have read.
You will be using 2 works of fiction, (I have provided)representing 2 genres, and a MINIMUM of 4 sources of literary criticism. You may certainly use MORE than 4, but 4 is the minimum number required. You must use the criticisms to support your thesis and you must document them correctly, using in text cites.
No first person or second person point of view.
To underscore the point, you must use credible and appropriate sources for your criticisms.
You must use scholarly sources for this paper.
Paper must be 6 full pages in length (about 1500 words), not counting the works cited page.
