The Assignment Tasks:
Answer Questions 1 and 2; choose either Question 3 or Question 4
Question 1
It is necessary for maintenance purposes to enter a large cement silo situated on a construction site (Figure 1).

(i) Identify the likely hazards.
(ii) Outline the precautions to be taken to reduce the risks to personnel entering the silo.

Question 2
Outline the precautions that may be needed when carrying out repairs to the flat roof of a building. (Figure 2)

Question 3
An independent scaffold tied to a 10-storey office block has collapsed into a busy street.
Outline the factors that may have affected the stability of the scaffold.

Question 4
You have recently visited a “live” construction site.
Write a short report detailing the hazards and risks observed on site (use your own photos and sketches as necessary).
