Sharing learning through narrative communication (2pages) The purpose of an article review is to review recent progress of a particular topic related to those addressed in the text. Overall, the paper summarizes the current state of knowledge of the topic. It creates an understanding of the topic for the reader by discussing the findings presented in recent research papers.

A review paper is not a “term paper” or book report. It is not merely a report on some references you found. Instead, a review paper synthesizes the results from several primary literature papers to produce a coherent argument about a topic or focused description of a field. Your paper should consist of three general sections: introduction, body of the paper, conclusion and future directions for research.

Introduction and Background

Make it brief (~1/5 of the paper’s total length).
Grab the reader’s interest while introducing the topic.
Explain the “big picture” relevance.
Provide the necessary background information.
Body of the Paper

Experimental Evidence: Describe important results from recent primary research literature articles.
Explain how those results shape our current understanding of the topic.
Mention the types of experiments done and their corresponding data, but do not repeat the experimental procedure step for step.
Point out and address any controversies in the field.
Use figures and/or tables to present your own synthesis of the original data or to show key data taken directly from the original papers.
Conclusion

Summarize your major points succinctly.
Point out the significance of these results as they relate to the teaching and learning of adults.
Discuss the questions that remain for future research.
Keep it brief.
Literature Cited

Include 3-5 references.

This paper should adhere to APA style standards including the following: Double space, 1” margins, New Times Roman 12pt. font, in-text citation of references, title page and a reference page (title page and reference page are not counted as content pages).

During Odysseus adventures and struggle to get home he must resist many temptations.

These temptations include places that might be like home but which, nevertheless, are not home, and females who might be like Penelope and in some regards might even excel her but who are nevertheless not Penelope. Discuss how the places Odysseus visits are like his home yet unlike his home and how the female figures he encounters, both divine and mortal are like Penelope and yet different from Penelope and yet different from Penelope. How do these places and persons(divine and mortal) both help and hinder Odysseus in his quest to reach Ithaca?

Mean Expression of the X- Chromosome is associated with Neuronal Density

Identify the first author(s) (it is authors if there is a reference to “equal contributing authors”) and the principle investigator (the person who heads up the research program).

Were they working at the same institution when the work was performed, did they have different affiliations, or was there a change in affiliation from the time the work was done and when it was published?
Example:
DNA Polymorphisms at Bermudagrass Microsatellite Loci and Their Use in Genotype Fingerprinting
Terry L. Kampsa, Neil R. Williamsab, Victor M. Ortegaa, Karen C. Chamuscoa, Karen Harris-Shultzb, Brian T. Scullyb and Christine D. Chase *a

• Have the first author(s) published any other work since? If so, refer to the work and indicate whether it is a continuation of the project or a different project.
• Are there any indications of the revision cycle for the paper that you are working on? Explain.

Introduction: Briefly, write about the essential background information that is provided for a reader to gain some understanding of what the research is about.
• Does the introduction place the study in proper context, give it a clear setting?
• Does it show why the work needed to be done?
• Does it present a hypothesis about what the outcome could be, and the predictions that would support the hypothesis?
• Describe and explain, don’t just answer yes or no to these or any of the questions you are being asked in this handout.

Figures and Tables:
• How many are there of each? Do not miss counting the supplemental tables and figures that some papers will have.
• Do they take the expected form (including such features as titles, legends, and labeling)?
• Are they images of gels, cells, tissues, whole organisms, graphical representations, or cartoon schemes?
• In your own words, what does each show? At a minimum talk about the first 5 (figures and/or tables).
• Do the legends really allow the figure to stand alone (i.e. do you understand what it is showing you without having to read the narrative results section?)?
• How is the level of detail in the figure legend different than the level of information in the Results narrative section that corresponds to the figure or table?
• Between the Results narrative and the Figures, and Tables is the information presented expanded or more redundant?

Results:
• How is the results section organized in the paper you are working on?
• Are there major Headings and/or subheadings within this section?
• To what do those sections refer?
• In your own words discuss the results of EACH section, commenting on the procedures used. Note: this will probably be the largest portion of your project.

Discussion:
• Does this section identify patterns with respect to other research investigations (and make proper citing of these)?
• If so, what pattern(s) are indicated?
• Does it make implications from the work and draw conclusions?
• If so, explain.
• In your own words make statements about any future investigations that may have been proposed based on the information gained in the current study.

Acknowledgements:
• Are those acknowledged consistent with the norm? Explain.

Policy Making: The issue is that cities and town must provide services to the citizens

The issue is that cities and town must provide services to the citizens, but the amount of money that they can raise through taxation is very limited. So under these economic conditions, does it make sense for many of these institutions that are essentially profit making endeavors, to be exempt from rel estate taxation?
