ACC 206 Final paper_ABC Company_A+ Work

You’ve just been hired onto ABC Company as the corporate controller. ABC Company is a manufacturing firm that specializes in making cedar roofing and siding shingles. The company currently has annual sales of around $1.2 million, a 25% increase from the previous year. The company has an aggressive growth target of reaching $3 million annual sales within the next 3 years. The CEO has been trying to find additional products that can leverage the current ABC employee skillset as well as the manufacturing facilities.

As the controller of ABC Company, the CEO has come to you with a new opportunity that he’s been working on. The CEO would like to use the some of the shingle scrap materials to build cedar dollhouses. While this new product line would add additional raw materials and be more time-intensive to manufacture than the cedar shingles, this new product line will be able to leverage ABC’s existing manufacturing facilities as well as the current staff. Although this product line will require added expenses, it will provide additional revenue and gross profit to help reach the growth targets. The CEO is relying on you to help decide how this project can be afforded  Provide details about the estimated product costs, what is needed to break even on the project, and what level of return this product is expected to provide.

In order to help out the CEO, you need to prepare a six- to eight-page report that will contain the following information (including exhibits, but excluding your references and title page). Refer to the accompanying Excel spreadsheet (available through your online course) for some specific cost and profit information to complete the calculations.

Final Paper Spreadsheet

I. An overall risk profile of the company based on current economic and industry issues that it may be facing.

II. Current company cash flow

a. You need to complete a cash flow statement for the company using the direct method.
b. Once you’ve completed the cash flow statement, answer the following questions: i. What does this statement of cash flow tell you about the sources and uses of the company?
ii. Is there anything ABC Company can do to improve the cash flow?
iii. Can this project be financed with current cash flow from the company? Why or why not?
iv. If the company needs additional financing beyond what ABC Company can provide internally (either now or sometime throughout the life of the project), how would you suggest the company obtain the additional financing, equity or corporate debt, and why?

III. Product cost: ABC Company believes that it has an additional 5,000 machine hours available in the current facility before it would need to expand. ABC Company uses machine hours to allocate the fixed factory overhead, and units sold to allocate the fixed sales expenses. ABC Company expects that it will take twice as long to produce the expansion product as it currently takes to produce its existing product.

a. What is the product cost for the expansion product?
b. By adding this new expansion product, it helps to absorb the fixed factory and sales expenses. How much cheaper does this expansion make the existing product?
c. Assuming ABC Company wants a 40% gross margin for the new product, what selling price should it set for the expansion product?
d. Assuming the same sales mix of these two products, what are the contribution margins and break-even points by product?

IV. Potential investments to accelerate profit: ABC company has the option to purchase additional equipment that will cost about $42,000, and this new equipment will produce the following savings in factory overhead costs over the next five years:

Year 1, $15,000
Year 2, $13,000
Year 3, $10,000
Year 4, $10,000
Year 5, $6,000

ABC Company uses the net-present-value method to analyze investments and desires a minimum rate of return of 12% on the equipment.

a. What is the net present value of the proposed investment ignore income taxes and depreciation?
b. Assuming a 5-year straight-line depreciation, how will this impact the factory’s fixed costs for each of the 5 years (and the implied product costs)? What about cash flow?
c. Considering the cash flow impact of the equipment as well as the time-value of money, would you recommend that ABC Company purchases the equipment? Why or why not?

V. Conclusion:

a. What are the major risk factors that you see in this project?
b. As the controller and a management accountant, what is your responsibility to this project?
c. What do you recommend the CEO do?

Samsung Galaxy S4 Marketing Plan in details

Course Project: Marketing Plan

Objective

The Marketing Plan assignment gives you the opportunity to practice developing an integrated business and marketing strategy for a product or service of your choice. This activity will make the course come alive through the application of the principles from the textbook, course materials, and discussions. Assignments such as this also help you develop business-oriented communication skills.

The development of the marketing plan is an integral part of the course, and will require several weeks of research, critical analysis, critical thinking, and writing. Past students tell us the only way to do well on this project is to begin early and work on it consistently throughout the entire course.

You have several options when choosing a product or service for your marketing plan. Consider choosing a new product for a new company (your own) or creating a new product for an existing company. Perhaps you would want to do a product extension of an existing product. You might consider a different approach to marketing an existing service. You can target consumers or businesses. You may choose a product or service offered by your employer or your own business, or one from another organization; however, you cannot simply report on how a current product is marketed—it must be a product or market extension as outlined above. The marketing plan must be original work. Ultimately, to maximize your learning experience, choose a product or service in which you have an interest and about which you would like to see your product or service come to the marketplace. However, keep in mind any idea must be realistic and reasonably able to come to market within 18 months. Make sure there is information available about the industry and target market of the product or service you choose.

Remember that this is a marketing plan and not a business plan; you are not creating a business, but you are creating the marketing plan for a product or service. Thus, your focus should not be on the company or its products, but on how to market the product or service that you have chosen. Provide enough background and history to put the marketing plan in perspective. Do a comprehensive SWOT analysis with an in-depth and candid look at your internal and external environments. Establish your goals and objectives. Analyze the information developed, and only then begin defining your target market and specifying the specific marketing strategies. Do not simply report on how a company markets its goods or services. Instead, you should explain what type of marketing you would propose. Your instructor must approve your plan idea, which is due in Week 1 on the Marketing Plan Topic Form provided in Doc Sharing.

Guidelines

In developing your content, try to demonstrate clarity of thinking, understanding, an application of basic marketing principles, and a creative, but realistic, use of marketing tools. Explorations of your options and choices are an important part of the demonstration of your mastery of marketing concepts. There is seldom only one potential course of action in developing a real marketing plan; demonstrate that you have considered options and alternatives at each step in your plan and have chosen the best.

Please download and review the Marketing Plan Guide in Doc Sharing prior to beginning your marketing plan. Also, see the Sonic Marketing Plan Example and Exercises in the Appendix of your Kotler textbook. The questions asked in the exercises may help you further develop your marketing plan.

Firm A has $10,000 in assets entirely financed with equity. Firm B also has $10,000 in assets, but these assets are financed by $5,000 in debt (with a 10 percent rate of interest) and $5,000 in equity. Both firms sell 10,000 units of output at $2.50 per unit. The variable costs of production are $1, and fixed production costs are $12,000. (To ease the calculation, assume no income tax.)

What is the operating income (EBIT) for both firms? What are the earnings after interest? If sales increase by 10 percent to 11,000 units, by what percentage will each firm’s earnings after interest increase? To answer the question, determine the earnings after taxes and compute the percentage increase in these earnings from the answers you derived in part b. Why are the percentage changes different?

Week 1 DQ1

All numbers in our real number system are the product of prime numbers. Complete the following steps for this discussion:

List the ages of two people in your life, one older than you and one younger than you. It would be best if the younger person was 15 years of age or younger. Find the prime factorizations of your age and the other two persons’ ages. Show your work listed by name and age. Make sure your work is clear and concise. Find the LCM and the GCF for each set of numbers. Again, be clear and concise. Explain or show how you arrived at your answers. In your own words, explain the meaning of your calculated LCM and GCF for the ages you selected.  Do not explain how you got the numbers; rather explain the meaning of the numbers. Be specific to your numbers; do not give generic definitions. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings. Did your classmates calculate the LCM and GCF correctly? Are their interpretations correctly applied to the ages?
