THE RACE AND GENDER OF SINGLE STORIES

Explore and analyze race and gender as interrelated (and socially constructed) social forces and identities.
Address the following core questions in your paper:
In what ways do *race* and *gender* shape and inform single stories (in your experience)?
What erroneous raced, gendered assumptions do “single stories” create about others and/or yourself?
What are the consequences therein? Focus on your own ideas and interactions with dominant cultural
logics (i.e., single stories). Your own internal world includes these larger logics so that your experience,
reflections, and analyses are crucial sites of knowledge.
• Keep in mind: (1) Race and gender simultaneously construct each other. (2) Identities of privilege (i.e.,
whiteness) need to be properly acknowledged and examined as well as penalized identities (i.e., women’s or
transgender experiences). (3) Race and gender are not the only systems arranging power in social relations.
It is fine (but not required) if you find that your argument needs to address social dimensions of sexuality,
class, religion, ableism, or other dimensions of power and identity.
ASSIGNMENT DESIGN ELEMENTS:
1. Be sure to review Chimamanda Adichie’s “The Danger of the Single Story” and include a definition of a
“single story” in your own words; do cite Adichie’s text properly.
2. Draw from your life experiences with and observations of “single stories,” and provide an analytic yet
reflective response to the query above. Engage your experiences with and apply theories and concepts from
the course (minimum of three texts in addition to Adichie’s Talk) to build and support your discussions
and/or arguments about the interplay of gender and race in “single stories.” Using first person is encouraged.
COMPOSITION DETAILS – All of the following are required for review and credit:
1. Thesis Statement: Underline and bold your thesis statement. See BB> “Syllabus and Related” > “Writing
Resources” for help with thesis statement and other writing things.
2. Engage 3 Course Texts (in addition to Adichie’s talk): Including a discussion of course texts means at
minimum identifying and engaging one or more principal ideas from each text in ways that effectively
advance your discussion/explanation/argument/etc. for the reader. Each chapter read from the same author
or book qualifies as a distinct text.
4. No Excerpts from Texts: Avoid including direct quotations;

Parental refuse of children immunize

please, check website : The conversation ” health check” this is important for structure. Also, I will send articles.

Instruction:
Article your final submission will be an article written in the style of a “Health Check” article for The Conversation, a news/commentary blog.
There are numerous examples of these articles on The Conversation website that will guide you in writing your final piece. In writing your article, please keep in mind the following:
• Structure: your article should have a beginning, middle and an end. It should state what the topic/problem/issue is what the background or debates or controversies are, and come to some summary/conclusion.
• Brevity: this article is only 900 words in length. Concise expression is critical. Handy hint: write your article, and then edit your article to remove unnecessary words, phrases and/or paragraphs.
• Informative: your article should inform the reader about the topic, not confuse them (or bore them)
. • Audience: this article is intended for a “lay” audience – that is, a non-expert audience who do not necessarily know a great deal about the topic in question.
Avoid technical terms (unless you define them) and unusual/unnecessarily long words.
Remember: long/unusual words plucked from the thesaurus do not necessarily improve your writing.
As per standard academic integrity requirements (see the unit outline and ACU policy), plagiarism and collusion are strictly prohibited; your submission must be your own work.
This does not preclude you from having another person read and comment on your work. As this is intended for a general audience, you are encouraged to “test” your work out by having another person (family, friend) read your work and provide you with feedback. Did they understand what it was saying about the topic?

Referencing
Please refer to the information above about referencing and use of APA6.
In-text citations will be used in your final article. The Conversation website references information using hyperlinks; these hyperlinks are placed in the text where the source is being cited.
While your article will use APA6 and not hyperlinks, the placement of the hyperlinks in the published articles provides a useful guide about where in-text citations may occur in a written piece.
For example, consider this passage from a recent Health Check article by Dr Amanda Salis of the University of Sydney (“Health Check: how to work out how much food you should eat”, The Conversation, posted 2 February 2015):
While some prediction equations may be slightly better than others, none of them can tell you exactly how many kilojoules you need to consume to maintain your weight.
That’s because no prediction equation can take your genetic make-up, which may impact how fast or slow you churn through kilojoules, into account.
The hyperlink embedded into the text is to the following journal article (in APA6): Frankenfield, D., Roth-Yousey, L, & Compher C. (2005).
Comparison of predictive equations for resting metabolic rate in healthy non-obese and obese adults: a systematic review.
Journal of the American Dietary Association 105(5): 775-89. doi:10.1016/j.jada.2005.02.005
This information would appear in the list of references; using APA6 in-text citations, the above passage would appear as follows:
While some prediction equations may be slightly better than others (Frankenfield, RothYousey, & Compher, 2005), none of them can tell you exactly how many kilojoules you need to consume to maintain your weight. That’s because no prediction equation can take your genetic make-up, which may impact how fast or slow you churn through kilojoules, into account.
Purpose: To introduce students to academic writing conventions (referencing), use of evidence and communication of public health concepts/topics to wider audiences.

Organizational Structure and Design for Subway

You should talk about the managerial strategy that seems to be in use, the type of organization structure employed, the type of technology utilized, the type of environment in which it operates, the leadership style used and so on. Only after doing all this should you attempt to explain why the organization works well or does not work well.
In other words, this is not to be a case study or analysis in the sense of a business policy case – where a problem is identified, various alternatives to solve the problem are developed and evaluated, and a solution selected. In fact, the organization may have no major problems, but your analysis should tell you why – (i.e., “The structure is appropriate for the work force and the technology used in this organization.”) However, if your organization does have problems (as most do) your analysis should give you increased insight about what may be the causes of these problems, and give some indications of how these problems might be addressed.
It might be helpful to conceptualize your paper as having three main parts:
 First Part: One or two pages briefly describing the general nature of the organization you are dealing with (eg. organization name, product or service produced, your role in the organization, brief history of organization, etc.)
 Second Part: Application of concepts to organization (eg. managerial strategy, contextual variables, structural variables, organizational dynamics, etc.) (Main part of paper.)
 Third Part: One or two pages to tie together and utilize analysis in terms of explaining why the organization does or does not work well. You might also discuss situations where the theory does not seem to “work” (if any) and why. (For instance, you may find that contingency theory predicts that a certain type of managerial strategy is appropriate in your organization. Yet, when this managerial strategy was used in your company in what the theory suggests is an appropriate situation, it did not result in favourable results. You should discuss why this may be.)
Reference to additional research and/or conceptual material beyond that in the text, readings, and lectures is neither required nor expected. Your paper must be typed, double-spaced and well organized and written. Subheadings must be used. Be sure to include a table of contents. Grading will be based on organization as well as content. The length of your paper would normally fall in the 15 to 20 page range. Papers longer than 20 pages may be penalized. (Note: Pages must be in 12 point font, double-spaced, with one inch margins all around, and each page must be numbered.)
because I told my instructor that I’m working at Subway, so just assume you are the cashier of subway, and write about the managerial strategy for Subway

Health Management

Students must identify a key quality issue within one type of health care organization. Examples of quality issues include, but are not limited to, safety, access, timeliness, equity, efficiency, care continuity/coordination, and patient-centeredness. You are not required to analyze a specific organization, rather a general type of facility such as acute care hospitals, primary care service providers, long term care homes, home care, or rehabilitation centres. If you wish to speak to employees in a certain type of facility, you may, but you are not required to do so. You can further narrow your focus to a specific medical problem within your chosen sector or facility, such as a particular acute illness, chronic disease, surgical state, or patient population (i.e. newborns, Aboriginals, etc.).
Each student must select both (a) an organization type or sector, (b) a quality issue.
You will summarize and critique the quality issue (and improvement strategies if they are currently in place) and develop recommendations for improving your quality issue in your specific context. Although your paper will focus on quality improvement strategies and options, you must demonstrate systems thinking.
The final paper should be 6-8 pages, 12 point font, double spaced. References are not included in the page count. Any recognized referencing style is acceptable for written assignments as long as it is used consistently.
