Requirements for Quantitative Analysis Paper

This paper’s objective is to give you an introduction into conducting an empirical research and presenting the results of that research in a professionally written paper. To carry out this research, you will identify an economic relationship (or a demand equation) between variables that are interesting to you. In your paper, you will describe this relationship and present a lucid argument for the importance of a better understanding of this relationship. And then, collecting appropriate data, you will empirically estimate this relationship along with all of the appropriate goodness of fit tests and statistics. Finally, you will analyze and report the results of your empirical estimation with particular emphasis on how these results are important and useful for a manager of a business enterprise or an economic agent faced with a choice. Your final report must contain the following sections:

Your initial posting is worth 15 points and the two (2) replies are worth 5 points. It will be graded according to the following Discussion Forum Grading Criteria: Discussion Forum Grading Criteria Demonstrates comprehension of sociological concepts, theories, etc. relevant to forum topic(s). 6 points Applies concepts, definitions, etc. from assigned readings or other references resources. 6 points Uses APA Style to cite reference sources. 3 points Comments to two (2) other students’ postings. 5 points REACT TO THIS STUDENT’S POST: EMAN’S: Terrorist attacks have been some of the most frightening things that we have had to deal with in the United States. Not only do terrorist attacks take thousands of innocent lives but they take away the freedom and security of others. Terrorist attacks rob people of their peace of mind in this country. People began to walk around with cloaks of paranoia and anguish waiting in fear of the next big attack to happen. This fear and paranoia has caused a surge in national security. Borders are more tightly secured, planes are more watched and guarded, and houses are more armed and protected. It seems as though the entire country is on a sort of lock down, which constantly monitors each other and has other people monitor those same people. Rumors have spread about satellites in skies watching people and phone calls being heard by the government which drew everyone into a frenzy during the Bush administration. The 9/11 attacks have changed Americans’ views on foreign cultures. Everything has changed into an “us vs. them,” mentality. People are more likely to not socialize with someone from a different ethnic or religious background. People feel more comfortable with just staying to themselves and with the people that they already know or people that they think are similar to them. Terrorism is viewed as asymmetrical because it is always random acts of violence to achieve a political goal. According to Kevin Johnson of USA Today, author of the article Homeland Security activates new terror warning level, “The Department of Homeland Security is especially concerned that terrorist- inspired individuals and homegrown violent extremists may be encouraged or inspired to target public events or places,” (Johnson). When boarding on planes, trains, and even buses people are in constant fear of a possible random terrorist attack. They feel that if they let their guard down for even a minute that they could possibly fall victim to an attack. I’ve even started to notice that these same types of precautions are now being taken at movie theaters and public schools. Some schools now have metal detectors when entering. Movie theaters now have disclaimers at the beginning of every movie to report any suspicious characters to an employee. Terrorism is an issue that shows no signs of slowing down, it recently took the lives of 130 people in Paris back in November. A malicious attack felt by billions around the world who prayed for their wellbeing. Although we are afraid and worried for our lives and the lives of loved ones I just hope that we as Americans don’t lose sight of what makes this country so great. Our freedom and peace for all. A great man once said, “I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character,” (Martin Luther King Jr.). Reference Johnson, Kevin. Homeland Security activates new terror warning level. USA Today. 16 Dec. 2015. Web.

Outdoors descriptive essay

Write an essay in which you describe a clearly defined place that is OUTDOORS with which you are very familiar. Some good topics are: your backyard, your hometown, a beach or park that you visit at least six times per year, a sports field that is outdoors, the parking lot where you take your smoke break, the alley where the rats get in, the Nassau Community College campus. Even though your essay is a descriptive essay, it still needs a thesis (main point). Make sure your essay contains a thesis statement where you take a position or make an argument about the place you describe. You will support this position or argument in the way you describe the place. Example thesis sentences: – We should ban cars on the NCC campus. We could build green solar-panel-powered dorms on the existing parking lot and extend the LIRR to campus. – We should introduce an orca pod into New York Harbor and charge extra to view them from the Staten Island Ferry. – This essay describes how I offended by neighbors by turning my front lawn into a vegetable garden. Avoid writing about a space that is so large and vague that you can only make general statements. Some bad examples: “I love Long Island.” “I love the ocean.” “Nature is beautiful.” You do not have to do any research unless you want to. If you include information from outside sources, make sure to include parenthetical citations and a Works Cited list at the end of your essay. Follow MLA style
