The individual research report is a written assignment on a cyber crime issue of your choice.
The task is to produce a report, based on your own research into the academic literature (journal articles and/or books),which:
Identifies and defines your chosen cyber crime issue

describes the problems or harms it creates

identifies areas of relevant law or regulation governing this type of crime (for example Australian federal or state-based legislation, or internationally)
—
comments on the effectiveness (or ineffectiveness) of the law, and other possibilities for responding to the problem.
Report organisation and overall structure (eg. A title, a clear introduction, a stated aim or argument, paragraphs, and conclusion)
Clarity of written expression (eg. Your writing is clear and concise, with few or no spelling/grammatical/typographical errors)
Identification of key aspects of the cyber crime issue chosen
(eg. Your report addresses each of the aspects of your chosen cyber crime issue as listed above)
Evidence of research into the literature beyond the course readings
(eg. Your reference list and in text citations show that you have undertaken your own research on the topic, and not just listed the course readings)
Effective use and integration of relevant research literature
(eg. Research literature is explained in your own words, with direct quotes used sparingly to illustrate a specific idea or point being made)
Appropriate and consistent referencing
(eg. Sources drawn upon are correctly cited in the report, and consistently styled according to either Harvard, APA or Oxford format) Referencing should be consistent with either Harvard or APA (in-text), or Oxford (footnote) styles.
As a guide, it is suggested that your individual research report should have a minimum of 8 references.
These should be primarily academic sources (eg. Journal articles, book chapters or books), but may include some non-academic sources to illustrate aspects of your
Chosen cyber crime issue (eg. Government and/or community agency discussion papers, legislation, and/or legal cases).
