Criminology

The assignment should be presented in 12 point Times New Roman Font and double spaced. There is no minimum of maximum page length of the assignment, but most outlines will be about three to seven pages in length. The goal of the assignment is to begin preparing for the final research proposal by reading and evaluating research articles. Effort that is put into this assignment will pay dividends when the final paper is due.

The outline should be developed in several phases.

1. First, make a general outline for the paper with three to five general subject headings. The headings provide the framework for your final paper. An example is presented below.

2. Next, write a brief paragraph under each of the general subject headings that details the main purpose of the section. Make sure that the paragraphs, and associated headings, follow a logical order.

3. Each heading should include annotated citations for at least three scholarly sources (research articles, books, or government reports). An example of an annotated description is presented below. It is important that the annotations describe the general goal and content of the article. The discussion should outline the sample and methods used in the article. Your discussion should also detail how this article is useful to your research study, and you can also denote any thoughts or comments on the source. In short, the annotations serve as formal notes or summaries of the research that was compiled for the final paper.

4. Duplicate articles can be used in different sections of the outline, but the annotated citations must be unique. A minimum of six refereed journal articles must be cited in this assignment.

5. Finally, include a bibliography on a separate page. The bibliography should be presented using the guidelines presented by the American Psychological Association (APA).

6. Not sure where to look for refereed journal articles? Use this excellent website as a guide – http://www.uwec.edu/patchinj/crmj301/journals.htm
