Develop a 1-2 page background report on the problem that you are solving. This report should be very concise and packed with information. Bulleted lists might be very helpful. The idea is to develop a detailed understanding of the problem…what exactly is the problem? Who are the clients? What is the market for its solution? What technology is available? Is it important? What are the constraints? What have people tried in the past? How do we cope with this problem now? This may seem like a lot to put in 1-2 pages but if you really think about the problem you should be just fine. Make every sentence count.
