Assessment Guidelines
This assignment contributes 100% to module mark. The purpose of this assignment is to allow you to discuss and evaluate the how living with autism can have an impact on your professional or personal role.
Before you make a final decision on the topic and purpose of the review, you should carry
out a preliminary literature search to ensure you can get access to a substantial body of
literature.
You are encouraged to discuss your essay topic with the teaching staff prior to commencing your assignment.
Structure of the Essay
Below is the suggested structure to be used in writing your review; you may use a different
structure but you must ensure that you have included all aspects.
Title
This most indicate the general area covered by the essay.
Introduction
This section must introduce the background context to the essay by providing statements
that highlight the importance of your essay. It is not necessary to include any descriptions of what autism is or its diagnostic and assessment procedures. Focus the introduction on rationale and explanation for the topic chosen for the essay.
Aim/Objective
There must be a statement that details exactly the primary focus of the essay – is it a reflective account or an evidence based review of the literature?
(NB: If you are using a reflection approach is advised that you use a reflective framework – for example Gibbs Cycle).
Living with Autism
This section must include a statement of reflection, whereby you state your involvement/engagement with Autism – personally or professionally. The main focus of this section is for you to explore any topic highlighted during the teaching week, for example discuss how Autism impacts upon your professional role and/or personal life or you could write an essay that explores the research evidence for how Autism impacts upon the family.
It is recommended that you convey additional information via tables or figures. You must included a statement or statements as to the reason why you are focusing your essay your chosen topic. You are also encouraged to provide information as to the impact autism can have on the individual, carers and/or the provision of services.
Lessons to be learned
The focus of this section is for you to demonstrate how you are (or would be using) the information collated for your essay in your professional or personal practice.
Summary and Conclusion
This section should contain a summary of your main essay points and your main conclusion generated from your exploration of living with autism and related conditions.
Referencing
Use the APA style of referencing both within the text and in the reference list at the end of
the review. Please refer to the College’s Postgraduate Taught Masters Handbook available
from the PGTM Infopoint section on Blackboard.

this assignment is a reflective essay . it should talk about an experience of living with autism . as my experience i am now a master student my master is about autism. and my background is a teaching assistant at the university in my home country.
i have no real experience with those children however i only contact with them when i was study in undergraduate at the university on the Practical training. also i am very interested to read an watch video clip from different websites about autistic children.
so the reflective assignment can be take from the Practical training experience or can be from watching video clips from different websites about autistic children and explain how that affect me as a reflective essay.
i will attache very important document to make this assignment from the module teacher about how to make a reflective essay and the standard of this assignment.
