For this paper, you are required to answer the following questions, utilizing all of the chapters in John Renard’s Friends of God:Islamic Images of Piety, Commitment, and Servanthood.
How do the lives of Rumi, Rabi’a, and al-Jilani reflect taqwa? Focusing on several of the animal narratives in Sufism, what role do these play in the religious lives of Muslims? Explain how pilgrimage is involved in the construction of sainthood.
Requirements:
Use all of the chapters in answering the above questions.
Cite specific examples to support your assertions. Demonstrate that you have read the entire text. Failure to do so will result in a low grade.
Paper must be a minimum of 7 pages, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12.
Paper must use the Chicago Manual of Style with footnotes.
