Please select an event that has taken place in a particular destination. There is a list of events I uploaded in additional file, I prefer Rio Carnival or Edinburgh Fringe Festival, but you can choose one which is easier in your opinion. What is important is that it must be a recurring event and you should be able to find enough information on this event from secondary sources only that will allow you to address all aspects of the assignment.
•Provide background information on the destination in which the event takes place (including key information on tourism such as total visitor numbers and total tourism revenue).
•Provide some background to the event including the rationale for hosting the event
•Provide a critical assessment of the short term and long term (legacy) impacts of your selected event.
•Provide a critical appraisal of the trends that might affect the future of this event.
•You should use a range of sources including books, journal articles, information from national tourist organisations (NTOs), official or recognised internet sites, reports such as Mintel, newspaper and magazine articles, etc…
•All information must be properly referenced and a list of references provided (Harvard style of referencing required)
•You must provide relevant and quality Appendices.
•Include a Table of Contents and appropriate subheadings which should include an executive summary, an introduction and a conclusion to the portfolio.
