Goals: The use of journals models a way to
• Design technology methods appropriate to student learning needs and the educational setting
• Examine how technology is used to support achievement of learning outcomes
• Analyze the relationship among technology methods, selected learning theories and teaching strategies
• Investigate interactive multimedia formats for high quality course design
Objective: Journal entries, with no minimum or maximum length, will be written candidly by the student in response to a prompt (cleck the above link to see the prompt) as another method of reflecting on class content and activity and interacting with the instructor. (Note: The entry will be visible only to the writer and the instructor. The instructor will provide feedback and sometimes ask a question. Submission of the 3 journal entries will constitute a grade of 100 for this special type of learning activity.)

Notice the difference between journals, surveys, and discussion boards. Journals are a private communication between the student and the instructor; surveys (in this class) are a good tool to support reflection; and discussion boards, of course, are open to community discourse.
