If I have to submit your document for you because you did not answer both questions in one document, I will deduct 10 points from the final grade of the essay.
You must answer one question from each of the following categories.
Part I
Choose one of the following questions. 50 pts.
1. Define Naturalism in your own words. Using that definition, choose two texts from the Naturalism unit (that we read in class) and write an essay that supports your definition. You will need to argue why the texts you chose are “Naturalist” texts. This should be a well thought out answer. You should have a thesis statement/a clearly articulated definition, and examples from two different texts that illustrate your definition and make an argument for why you believe they are Naturalist texts.
2. Define Modernism in your own words. Using that definition, choose two texts from the Modernism unit (that we read in class) and write an essay that supports your definition. You will need to argue why the texts you chose are “Modernist” texts. This should be a well thought out answer. You should have a thesis statement/a clearly articulated definition, and examples from two different texts that illustrate your definition and make an argument for why you believe they are Modernist texts.
3. Define Postmodernism in your own words. Using that definition, choose two texts from the Postmodernism unit (that we read in class) and write an essay that supports your definition. You will need to argue why the texts you are “Postmodernist” texts. This should be a well thought out answer. You should have a thesis statement/a clearly articulated definition, and examples from two different texts that illustrate your definition and make an argument for why you believe they are Postmodernist texts.
