It was a very important era in American history because it sets up the next 75 years or so of race relations, economics and general feeling in the country (especially the South). Your task is to propose bills, amendments, or other changes to help bring the country back together following the Civil War (between the years 1865 and 1877). While writing this you should keep in mind that you have to bring together very different sides that just got done fighting a war and all the problems that entails. Also, you should keep in mind the conditions that lead to the war, including items of race, religion, philosophy and economics among others. You can write this from a more creative aspect (a speech to congress, a proposal for legislation from a Senator, or some other method of your choosing) or from a more traditional approach (illustrate what went wrong and how it could have been better). However you choose to do it I suggest you begin thinking about it sooner rather than later as there are many different things to consider and bring together to do well on this paper.
