This assignment differs a bit from previous ones in that the emphasis is on material from the text, rather than lecture. Be sure to read the sections of the chapter on interpersonal communication covering Cody’s disengagement strategies, Duck’s model of relational dissolution, and the coming apart portion of the Knapp model before completing the assignment, as you’ll be asked to apply them to the break-up of a past relationship (significant other relationship or friendship).
In the first part of the assignment you’ll be asked to use Cody’s list of relational disengagement strategies to characterize the communication surrounding the break-up.
You’: ll then need to apply one of the following frameworks to the dissolution of the relationship, trying to apply each element and discussion what you feel fits and what doesn’t
