For this assignment you are to attend at least one worship service in two of the four religious traditions we will examine this semester (Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Baha’i). After you attend the two services, you are to write a short paper that compares and contrasts the experience of worship at the two places.
Specific Instructions – Worship Services:
·You may attend worship services with any Mormon, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witnesses, or Baha’i communities (i.e., you don’t have to attend services in Spartanburg, if you don’t want to)
·While attending the worship services, you should pay careful attention to the particular worship “atmosphere” (for example, the architecture, “decorations,” the structure of the worship service, or the lack thereof, the mood of worship, what elements are central to service [song, prayer, recitation, sermon, rituals, etc.], religious symbolism that is evident, the makeup of the congregation, and so forth).
