Short Projects or Papers (ALL): A series of short projects or papers will be assigned that cover a variety of assessment issues and experiences. The total response should be no less than 3 pages in length (not including cover pages, reference pages, etc.) (double-spaced, one-inch margins, 12 pt Times font via a MS word document) and follow APA style citations, formatting, and referencing. Such projects are as follows: Research Article – Identify a research article from a legitimate Student Affairs research journal (i.e. College Student Affairs Journal, NASPA Journal, Journal of College and Character, etc.) that highlights research along a developmental domain or issue. The article must contain and a narrative created that discusses the following: • Theory-base used by author(s) in conducting their research (i.e. what developmental theory or domain is it designed to measure progress on or reaction to) • Brief description of the study (setting, subjects, hypothesis, methodology, instrumentation, etc.) • Results of the study • Discussion on how you would use the study in your own professional practice 20 pts X 1 = 20 pts. Total (Due Date: 1/26/16) PURPOSE: • Increase ABILITY to identity and apply the professional research literature • Emphasize how working professionals still UTILIZE theory to inform practice • Encourage future use of the professional literature as a critical professional COMPETENCY
