You will be assigned to write four 2-page (double spaced) papers on your choice of any of the films we view. The paper should discuss different layers of power relations and analyze representation of power/powerlessness/victimization, and agency. You should draw on at least 2 of the previous theoretical readings. Ideally you discuss theories or parts of theories developed by the authors of the previous readings, and you use the film as a case study to prove/critique/further develop these theories. Please reserve your own response to the film for the last paragraph of your papers. Your guided viewing notes will be helpful in writing these papers, BUT these papers are not simply a collection of answer to the guided questions. In order to get full credit you need to refer to previous readings and put the films into conversation with these readings!!!!
The paper on the film is due at the beginning of the next class after we have viewed the film (in hard copy). Please hand in 2 papers before October 21.
