In your discussion of the modern leisure attitude it is expected that you demonstrate your wider-reading, extending your focus beyond the social/psychological literature. What is the modern attitude towards leisure? What is meant by the term modern leisure? Where is the evidence? How does this sit with the conceptualisation of leisure developed in these throughout the Leisure in Mind Unit?
Part B: Exploring the Industry Implications (1,000 words max)
Critically consider the implications of your understanding of the modern leisure attitude for a related industry area of your choice – e.g. tourism, sport and leisure management, education – with particular emphasis on the planning of associated experiences
It is important that you do not attempt to conduct an industry-wide evaluation – instead, identify one/or two components of business – i.e. customer experience, product design. What do your findings in relation to the modern leisure attitude mean for your chosen industry area? Is it a service-based industry – if so, what are the implications for the nature of this service? Can you provide recommendations for enhancing customer experience using your understanding of the modern leisure attitude and leisure-related literature? Be imaginative in your application – it would perhaps be more beneficial to concentrate on an industry area that holds a high degree of personal interest for you.
Part C: Unit Reflection – My philosophy of Leisure (500 words max)
1. As usual you need to include a self-assessment illustrating how your essay has satisfied the identified learning outcomes. This self assessment is intended as a way for you to maintain focus on what is really important for you in your experiential essay. It may be worth considering a table?

This reflective exercise is weighted – How has your involvement in the unit influenced your own philosophy (beliefs, viewpoint, values, attitude) towards leisure – how has it changed? What was your philosophy at the beginning – and now? What aspects of the unit had greatest influence on this?
Essentially, you need to take a step back and look back over your experiences and progress on the Leisure in Mind Unit. Can you map out this progression? How has your understanding changed, and why?
