Assessment task 2B involves research, analysis and written presentation of individual work. Students are asked to provide a detailed, critical analysis of one of the following examples: architect or spatial designer // single designed space or building // particular type of inhabitation. Students will then be asked to research, examine, and collate information on their provided example in a clear and organized manner under a given thematic (subject). You are encouraged to engage your subject and example using the relationship to other spatial, social, or cultural constructs of the given time. Students will be asked to provide intermittent submissions to follow the progress of the essay in three parts: abstract // draft // final. An A4* 2500 word essay responding to one or more of the following questions : 1. What are contemporary issues about the relation between interior and exterior in inhabitation? Relate this to examples from the past (seen during the lectures or other examples) 2. What are contemporary issues related to living, working, and dwelling in inhabitation? 3. What are the social, economic, and cultural conditions that have either formed an inhabitation, or were the consequence of an inhabitation? 4. How have changing socio?economic and political conditions over time affected the spatial design of inhabitation? Strategies for the formation of a strong written essay are as follows: Logic of the Stated Problem and Position: Starting from the subject of the essay, you should develop a precise problematic. The student must make a clear statement in how the subject will be discussed through examples and theoretical underpinnings. Choice of Examples of Clarity of Description: The examples must be chosen in relation to the subject of the essay, and must be analysed with clarity. The characteristics and qualities described must enable a developed knowledge on the chosen subject to emerge. Communication and Clarity of Writing: You should communicate ideas with clarity. The writing must be fluid and well edited. The essay should clearly follow a logical sequence of the given outline. Conclusion and Stance: The essay must provide a clearly stated conclusion that reiterates the main ideas of the subject that have been developed throughout the essay. You should provide a personal reflection.
