1. “A global partnership for development”: what lies behind the rhetoric? Explore the relationships between aid agencies (bilateral, multilateral and/or NGOs) and governments of recipient nation states. Develop your argument with examples from education and/or language policies.
2. How do religion, identity and culture interact with education? Use specific examples to construct your argument.
3. Explore the ways in which a nation state of your choosing negotiates the “individualist and collectivist” futures of its citizens through education.
4. The international community and national governments embrace education as an important building block for development, as confirmed by EFA and the MDGs 2 and 3. Yet, education embodies hope AND disappointment. Account for some of the failings of education.
