The essay is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your understanding of the issues
and approaches presented in lectures. It also provides scope to explore key aspects in
greater detail.
You should address one of the set questions below, engaging critically with the
themes discussed in the module’s lectures and drawing on the material discussed in
seminars as well as the literature on the reading list.
You are expected to closely engage with (at least) five items from the module’s
weekly reading list on the topic related to the essay question.
The essay must be original and fully referenced (in the social science style, i.e. author
(year of publication: page number). Any copying of materials without attribution (i.e.
plagiarism) will be dealt with severely.
