The paper should be an analysis of an issue critical to the development of the theory and practice of CBRN Threats to the Homeland applicable to homeland security where the student researches the issue, and prepares his or her original thoughts and at least one credible recommendation related to future Homeland Security policy directly applicable to the course objectives listed in the syllabus. The recommendation should be part of the conclusion. Reflect on the course objectives when selecting a topic of your choice as directly linked to one or more of the course objectives.
Students must submit their paper first to Turnitin before submitting them in the classroom Assignment Section. Students will NOT see their similarity score — if there is a concern on the percentage amount provided in Turnitin, the instructor will email the student to address. DO NOT submit more than one time to Turnitin. What you submit to Turnitin should be your final product.
The final paper is a formal paper and the text should adhere to in-text parenthetical Turabian citing style. That means a title page, page numbers in the running heading, and an alphabetized and properly formatted reference list. This is a research paper and requires in-text citations and proper use of quotation marks for all cited material. You should have at least six, and preferably eight to 10, references, which are cited within the text. It is not enough just to list sources in the reference section. The paper must be between 2,000, but no more than to 2,500 words (excluding the front matter and reference list). Papers submitted with less than 1500 words are considered non-responsive and will not be graded.
