Terrorism

I would prefer if the topic would be on terrorism. Again the essay is an analysis paper on the secret agent book by Joseph Conrad.
This is an analysis paper on the book The Secret Agent by Joseph Conrad. The book is the only source to use on this. Any topic would be great: examples: Conrad and women, Conrad and anarchism, Conrad and terrorism.

the loss of salmon in the columbia river

Students in this course are invited to stretch their research, thinking, and writing skills by preparing a 7-8 page scholarly paper related to Blaine Harden’s A River Lost. You will need to choose one of the areas he elucidates as he moves down the Columbia River. Use what you have learned to lay out historical context and then grapple with one of those issues, such as Hanford (nuclear power, downwinders, waste), the loss of salmon, or the changing relationship of Native Americans to the river. The general topic area will need to be defined in such a way that the argument is sharp and focused. In other words, a formal paper contending that the Columbia River enabled the development of the atomic bomb in 1945 or the bomb’s use implicated the river in bringing nuclear contamination to downstream communities would constitute legitimate, manageable paper topics. Whereas a research paper showing how the Columbia River helps people of the Pacific Northwest would require a lifetime of research. The research also requires a reasonable search of primary materials, so you need to get going on this as soon as possible. At the least 4 primary documents and 3 peer-reviewed secondary works are required to research this topic. They can be journal articles as well as historical books.

Given the possibility of history moving backward, what might Descartes and Plato have had to say about Nietzsche’s perspectivism (discussed in part in aphorism #374 from Gay Science)? Is perspectivism in any sense contrary to absolutism? How so? What does Nietzsche mean when he says, “God is dead”? Give attention to the passages in Nietzsche where the notion of the “eternal recurrence of the same” is alluded to. Explain the thought experiment that Nietzsche describes. Can you forge a connection between the “eternal recurrence” and Plato’s conception that we are born with knowledge of timeless unchanging truths? Is the “eternal recurrence” put forth potentially as such a timeless, unchanging truth? If eternal recurrence may be understood as a timeless truth, then how is Nietzsche able to avoid the accusation that he simply posits another absolute (which would be tantamount to resurrecting of God)?

Write a short (4-5 page, intriguingly titled, double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, with one inch margins and page numbers on all but the first page) paper in reply to one of the prompts listed below. Refrain from the use of sources beyond those assigned in the course syllabus. Avoid the use of long citations from our texts by summarizing the way in which the author’s meaning intersects the overall thematic core of your paper. When you do, however, need to allow the author to speak for himself, you should always re-contextualize the citation by explaining its meaning and relevance to your project. Use footnotes rather than cumbersome in-text citation. And, by all means, do not waste time with introductory and concluding paragraphs that simply anticipate and
restate that which should already be obvious to any reader, given a clear and well worked-out paper.

Diversity in Organization

Assignment Expectations:

First, please review the required background readings. Then, using the following sources, prepare a 4 page paper in which you address the following:

Discuss the business case for diversity as it is made by Bendick, Egan, and Lanier. What are the key conclusions drawn by the authors of this research study?
How has Tesco engaged with diverse groups, and how has the company used its inclusion and diversity practices as a key means of providing better customer service? Would you consider Tesco’s approach to be strategically advantageous?
Critically compare and contrast Tesco’s approach to inclusion and diversity with the key conclusions drawn by Bendick, Egan, & Lanier in their journal article below. In doing so, assess the strengths and/or weaknesses that you believe Tesco may have with respect to inclusion and diversity.
Required Readings:

Bendick, M., Egan, M.L., & Lanier, L. (2010). The business case for diversity and the perverse practice of matching employees to customers. Personnel Review, 39(4), 468-486. Retrieved on November 14, 2012 from ProQuest.

Following is the Tesco case study. Best practice – diversity in organization

In SLP 3 you are the HR Manager who is responsible for EEO efforts in your private-sector organization.  You have been successful in hiring a good mix of people in your company.  However, you worry that when employees cluster on their own, they tend to seek out those like themselves.  For example, Asian employees often mingle with Asian employees, employees tend to work more closely with employees close to their own age, employees who have physical disabilities tend to be separate from employees who don’t, and so forth.  You wonder–is there more we should be doing to nurture the diversity that we have?  You decide to learn what other companies are doing to maintain and nurture the richness of their diverse workplaces.

[You might find that HRMagazine and HR Focus will give you a good start in finding organizational practices related to diversity.]  Also take a look at what you can find on the internet.

Pick and choose best practices of two or three different private-sector employers–best practices that are the most interesting to you.  Discuss what they are doing to nurture diversity in their workplaces and why you think these are worthy approaches to try.

Assignment Expectations:

Reference any sources that you use in your work.
Use headings and subheadings to clearly show the structure of your analysis.
Be sure to include a cover page and reference page, in addition to the 2-3 pages of analysis described above.
