BMG301 Current Issues In Management Coursework Assessment
This coursework accounts for 50% of the module mark. The deadline for submission is 23.55 on the 16th January 2015. Submission is via the BMG301 Moodle website. It is an individual assignment and you are expected to carry out all writing tasks on your own.
This module focuses upon the ever changing issues in management, and your role within it. As such, this assessment asks you to explore the role of the graduate in society and also your own future employability and social contribution in a connected, digital world.
The coursework comprise of an essay (4000 words max) divided into two equal parts:
1. An exploration of the evolution of University education and how current economic and political climates have affected the current higher education experience – how does it fit in with the thinking that Universities are a central part of the Knowledge Economy? This exploration should draw from both academic literature and news media to illustrate the points you are making.
2. A reflection of your own digital behaviours and how they could be both positive and negative in terms of your future social and workforce contribution and “fit” with the knowledge economy. In your opinion, and using evidence from your own experiences, does a connected world present more risks or opportunities for you as an individual? You should also reflect on how prepared for this connected world your university experiences have made you – is this something that emerges from formal or informal learning and is digital literacy a fundamental part of modern Higher Education? (2000 words max)
Note there are no right or wrong answers for this piece of work. You need to show critical evaluation and clear arguments for the issues you are exploring. It is expected that in part 2 you will refer to your research and observations in part 1 related to the social value of university education.
The work should be submitted as a single file and will be marked with the following breakdown:
1. Literature and discussion around the changing role of universities (30%)
2. Reflection of your digital experiences as a positive or negative thing (50%)
3. Conclusions and style (20%)
