Write an analysis paper considering TWD (comic and/or TV series) in relation to the Western genre, and particularly in comparison to any or all of the versions of True Grit and Brokeback Mountain.

There are many ways you can pursue this topic, and you will have to decide which literary and cinematic examples to focus on, and in what ways. A few things you might think about include:
1) How do the characteristics of the Western, both audiovisual and thematic, express themselves in TWD? Are there limitations to this genre expression?
2) Beyond finding similarities or correspondences between TWD and the Western, why does it matter that there are similarities or correspondences? How does thinking in terms of the Western genre help us understand TWD (comic or series) in a new way?
3) Is the Western the same on the page (or the comic page) vs. on the screen (or the TV screen)? Is the medium an important factor in how genre expresses itself, and if so how?
