We have spent this term studying various major and minor genres of Folklore. We have explored among other topics: definitions of Folklore and intangible cultural heritage; folktales, legends, myths and personal experience stories; Child ballads, broadside and Native American ballads along with an exploration of Blues and Cape Breton fiddle and piano music; material culture. We have accomplished this through readings, lectures, in-class discussions, links to educational web sites and the showing of related video clips.
