My response to Jan Bringing sexual harassment to light
As the Human resource manager, my core responsibility is to manage and oversee the personnel department in the Belle Tire Auto Repair Company. Am grateful for bringing the issue of sexual harassment to light. It is with doubt; this will help me as the manager to address sexual harassment issues, which for many years, have not been heard. Am sorry for your accusation towards sexual harassment, I believe sexual harassment is a very sensitive issue, which creates a hostile environment. With this in mind, I will handle the issue effectively ensuring this does not occur in the future. In monitoring the situation, I will do my own investigation using various strategies.
First, I will inquire from my disciplinary committee whether such incidence has ever occurred previously to Ron the accused. If not, I will work together with my disciplinary committee in investigating when the act was done. This will be achieved by inquiring from various employees attitude towards the perpetrator, and whether they experienced similar cases. I will work together with the employees’ representative to inquire how Ron relationship towards other employees has been for the past years. In addition, employees will assist in coming up with investigations and if any witness will inquire when the act was done. In conjunction with this, I will make use of HFCC non-discrimination policy hopefully to prevent the form of sexual harassment. It is with no doubt; this will help me to monitor the situation thus, preventing its future occurrence (Krazmer & Solotoff, 1994).
My response to Ron
Am concern by the fact that, you never had intentions to sexually harassing Jan. From my investigations; I have established that, there was a misunderstanding of your words being refered as sexually harrassing. It is noteworthy noting that, people come from different backgrounds and for that reason; one is required to handle each other with a lot of care. It essential noting that, uman beings have differences, which if not handled well, may result to hatred, fight and rage. I know this may affect you in your work performance especially working in the same environment with Jan. As the manager, I will communicate to the entire management and employees about your accusation as being misinformation brought by differences in how we respond to situations. To ensure that you work as a team with Ron, I will call both of you to apologize to each other in addition, ensure you work together. Eventually, I will delegate duties that both will be required to work together thus monitoring your future relationship along with being productive employees. Having encountering such a challenge, I will make use of the HFCC non-discrimination policy which I think will encourage many women and minorities to apply (American Council on Education, 1998). In order to put the policy into action, I will prohibit any form of discrimination or in the foundation of sexual harassment. In evaluating other employees’ behaviors on what is wrong or right, I will carry out my own investigations to establish the truth behind accusation.
