Growing problems at the Veterans Affairs

At least 40 United States Veterans died while waiting for appointments at the Phoenix Health Care system, with many of them on a secret waiting list. The Veteran Affairs managers, at the Phoenix Health Care, developed this secret waiting list to try and to hide the 1,400 to 1,600 hundred veterans who had been waiting up to 21 months to see a doctor. Typically, a veteran should only have to wait 14 to 30 day to be see a doctor, but managers in the Phoenix Veteran Health Care were taking the veteran information in the computer, screen capturing it and hard copying the printout. They would then delete those files that were in the computer. When it came time, if that veteran was still alive, they could take that person off that secret list and they would put him back into the system to fit him into that 14 to 30 day window and destroy that hard copy, so that the upper management in the Veteran Affairs were thinking everything is OK. The author main Idea in this article is to show the criminal intent of the Veteran Affairs to the public.

According to the Dayton Daily News, the cost of 12 new C27 J Spartan Aircrafts is $53.3 million dollars and over a lifetime of a 25-years, it will cost the taxpayer $308 million dollars per aircraft to keep them running. They are sending these C27 J Spartans to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration group in Davis–Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona aka the bone yard. This sprawling desert complex also stores 4,400 unused aircraft and 13 aerospace vehicles from NASA and other military branches for a total value of more than $35 billion dollars. The pentagon has tried to cut the C27J out of there budget along with other weapons, like the M-1 Abrams Tank and the global Hawk Drone, all three are protect by Ohio lawmakers and lobbyist. According to the military defense budget, by order of Congress, it specifically forbids the military from sending the Global Hawk Drones to the bone yard by stating that the military cannot spend a dime to “retire, prepare to retire, or place in storage”. This Dayton Daily News article was very helpful, by showing use of waste of the taxpayers’ dollars. The Veteran Affairs could use this money for more staffing and hospitals.

The average primary care physician in the private sector works about 2,300 cases a year, while a VA doctor sees about 1,200 a year. By the start of 2014, the VA has still not developed an acceptable and comprehensive way of measuring physician productivity and determining staffing needs. This costs, in one year, the taxpayers $845 million dollars in malpractice claims against the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Veterans Affairs annual budget is 78.4 billon, in which they are responsible for 23.4 million Veterans. Plus they are still taking care of two children from the Civil War, 184 children and widows from the Spanish American War, and 154 Veterans Medical Center. If the Veterans Affairs could keep the politics out, as well as the corruption, they could turn the Department of Veterans Affairs around. In this article the author show why the Veteran Affairs is so enormous, it was amazing to see that we are still dealing with a war that ended almost 150 years ago.
