• Turn-in: Please the assignment (via single zipped file via Moodle) on or before 5 pm of
the due date.
• Legibility: Please use a word processor hand written material will not be accepted.
• Plagiarism: All referenced material must be detailed – failure to do so will result in a
zero mark for the course work.
• Late policy: Written work turned in after the deadline will be penalized by 15% and a
further 5% per day late.
• Marks Allocated: Assignment1 is worth 25% of the overall mark.
Milling Component
Part A
Generate the NC code for a milled component. Using AutoCAD develop an engineering standard
drawing of the component. The design should entail the following:
– Part should be 70 cm × 70 cm × 20 cm aluminium component.
– Engineering standard drawing should include all relevant views, sectional views, have all
dimensions, and location of machining datum clearly defined.
– A milling process plan must also be defined – as detailed on next page. Roughing and
finishing cycles are expected – feeds and speeds should reflect this.
– Manually generate the NC code to machine the designed part using the standard tool list
detailed below.
– Input NC code into AlphaCAM software and include in final submission.
– Include an explanation of important aspects of code in appendix of final report.
Standard Tooling List
T02 (8 mm) diameter end mill
T03 (14 mm) diameter end mill
T04 (5 mm) diameter drill
The design should include an AutoCAD drawing in first angle projection showing all hidden
detail. The final assignment submission should include a txt file, and final simulation on
AlphaCAM. Marks given for novel design and additional physical features.
Machining Process Plan Example
MECH H2028 Semester 2, 2013
Assignment 1
(50 marks)
Part B
Using subroutines and/or loops, generate a program that machines four of components in part A
out of a single billet. Note – datum shifts should not be used. Submission should include:
– Drawing of proposed layout (dwg)
– Manually written NC code to machine the designed part using the standard tool list as
above.
– Include an explanation of important aspects of code in appendix of final report.
– Use AMIMA software to verify code by defining billet file, tool file, and txt file
(25 marks)
Turning Component
Part C
Using AutoCAD develop an engineering standard drawing of a turning component. The design
should entail the following:
– Part should be 30mm diameter and 80mm long.
– Engineering standard drawing should include all relevant views, sectional views, have all
dimensions, and location of machining datum clearly defined (front face of the job).
– The tool list used in the turning process plan may be used as the tool list.
The design should include an AutoCAD drawing in first angle projection showing all hidden
detail. The final assignment submission should include a txt file, and final simulation on
AlphaCAM. Marks given for novel design, additional physical features and removed where the
material is damaged by the tool.
(25 marks)
Turning Process Plan Example
Submissions should include a report detailing all aspects of the project (including screen shots of
the program(s) running and a soft copy of the relevant program files zipped and inserted to
Moodle. Candidates will be asked to run the program and give a brief explanation of how it
works – a zero grade will be given if you fail to demonstrate the programs.

Quaternary geomorphology of the North Sea area through time

You need to divide the paper into subsections and cover the following:

a. Nature of the two Ice sheet through time (British and Scandinavian Ice Sheets):

Show a snap shot over time (Figures). Compare different model ideas. You need to develop more figures and diagram to illustrate the finding and to show where were the ice sheets in different time. Show a contrast figure where someone says the ice sheets did coalesce, while other said they did not at the same time period. You also need to include a map view of different time showing where the ice sheet were,

b. Sedimentation with time:

What type of sedimentation you were in the area at the same time of the ice sheets and what kind of environment they been depositing in. What the extent of that type of sediment?
You need to show stratigraphic column (vertically) and link it to a map review to show how the sedimentation has change in time and space. The stratigraphic column should show certain time that showing how the deposition change and indicating how the sedimentation might have been change at particular place on time and how it change at different places within the same time. Bring together in term of spatially and temporary where the ice sheet cover was and what the sediments were being depositing eroded deformed because of these ice sheet and what we have left today.

c. Subglacial deformation:

subglasical deformation/subglasical sediments deformation beneath the ice sheet, and the impact of that on surgeon the ice sheet and how rapidly was advancing.? Subglasical formation tell us about the ice sheet behavior. Scince the subglasical sediments work on ice dynamic, at the margin of the British and Scandinavian Ice Sheets the margin is important. For example at the margin of the Scandinavian ice sheet you get quite large sedimentation and that where the ice sheet behave different.

Note: for any of the subtopics you need to explain what they do to the geomorphology (including the interglacial period) with time.

You must include a lot of figures and include the references in text with the page number. I read all the references that is why I want the page number. Just use academic papers and never use any websites.

Cryptography: Overview and Classical Encryption Techniques

All answers must be in complete sentences or, if it is a problem, work must be shown.

1.What is the OSI security architecture?

2.What is the difference between passive and active security threats?

3.Consider an automated teller machine (ATM) in which users provide a personal identification number (PIN) and a card for account access. Give examples of confidentiality, integrity, and availability requirements associated with the system and, in each case, indicate the degree of importance of that requirement.

4.Consider a desktop publishing system used to produce documents for various organizations.
1.Give an example of a type of publication for which confidentiality of the stored data is the most important requirement.
2.Give an example of a type of publication in which data integrity is the more important requirement.
3.Give an example in which system availability is the most important requirement.

5.Draw a matrix similar to Table 1.4 that shows the relationship between security services and attacks.

6.What are the essential ingredients of a symmetric cipher?

7.What are the two general approaches to attacking a cipher?

8.One way to solve the key distribution problem is to use a line from a book that both the send and the receiver possess. Typically, at least in spy novels, the first of a book serves as the key. The particular scheme discussed in this problem is one of the best suspense novels involving secret codes, Talkingking to Strange Men, by Ruth Rendell. Work this problem without consulting that book!

Consider the following message:

SIDKHKDM AF HCRKIABIE SHIMC KD LFEAILA

The ciphertext was produced using the first sentence of The Other Side of Silence (a book about the spy Kim Philby):

The snow lay thick on the steps and the snowflakes driven by the wind looked black in the headlights of the cars.

A simple substitution cipher was used.

a. What is the encryption algorithm?

b. How secure is it?

c. To make the key distribution problem simple, both parties can agree to use the first or last sentence of a book as the key. To change the key, they

simply need to agree on a new book. The use of the first sentence would be preferable to the use of the last. Why?

9. When PT-109 American patrol boat, under the command of Lieutenant John F. Kennedy, was sun by a Japanese destroyer, a message was received at an Australian wireless station in Playfair code:

KXJEY UREBE ZWEHE WRYTU HEYFS
KREHE GOYFI WTTTU OLKSY CAJPO
BOTEI ZONTX BYBNT GONEY CUZWR
GDSON SXBOU YWRHE BAAHY USEDQ

The key used was royal new Zealand navy. Decrypt the message. Translate TT into tt.

Cause and effect paper on

Revolution
Imperialism
Industry
Foreign Policy
Propaganda
Prosperity
War

All of these have greatly affected American society, and each of them has had an effect on one another in some way.
For example, war completely overtook American culture for many years, including its industry and economy. War led to prosperity, which lead to American leisure and entertainment. See how they all affect American culture while affecting one another?
Well, here’s what you are to do.
Choose three of these words. Write a cause and effect paper explaining how and why each of them has affected American culture. Has it improved society, lead to international turmoil, caused a thirst for "more", etc.
Answers should be detailed and well-justified. Do not just state how you think America changed, but rather connect the event to the change by explaining why it changed America as it did. Explain what led to what and why it progressed as it did. You should show links between the individual words and American society AND links among the words.
